CS2 Update 25.04.2024

Today marks the day of the first major update after the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 came to an end. Valve has rolled out an array of improvements including viewmodel adjustments, HUD refinements, gameplay tweaks, map overhauls, weapon finish updates, and more

Viewmodel Improvements: The development team has fine-tuned viewmodel bob. Additionally, players now have the ability back to adjust their preferred viewmodel handedness, with a convenient key binding allowing for seamless switching during gameplay.

Enhanced HUD Features: The HUD receives a significant boost with the addition of a radar map alternate zoom setting and toggle radar zoom key binding. Also, a grenade line-up reticle has been introduced, tailored to each grenade type without the need of custom binds or aliases.

Refined Buy Menu: A “Dropped Weapons” panel, which shows (and allows the direct pickup of) weapons that have been dropped by teammates that are standing in the buy zone, was added to the buy menu.

Gameplay Tweaks: Various adjustments have been made to the Zeus, including movement speed and attack cone, as well as revisions to kill rewards for Zeus, CZ75-Auto and XM1014.

Map Overhauls: In the Active Duty Group, alongside various tweaks to Inferno, Baggage, and other fan-favorite maps, Overpass has been replaced with Dust 2.

VALORANT PATCH NOTES 8.0

In Valorant’s first patch of 2024, players can expect exciting updates. Spatial audio is now officially supported, allowing the use of third-party spatialization software for headphones.

A new weapon, the Outlaw, a double-barreled sniper rifle, has been introduced with unique features. Agent updates include enhancements to Deadlock’s abilities and adjustments to Killjoy’s Turret for better strategic placement.

Map updates focus on refining Icebox and Lotus, improving gameplay balance. Doors have been technologically enhanced for smoother interactions. Team Deathmatch sees changes to the Sheriff loadout, and map rotations align with Competitive maps.

GENERAL UPDATES

In the General Updates, the Gun Buddy Carousel has been alphabetically ordered, making it easier for players to find what they want.

Spatial Audio is here!

Beginning with Patch 8.0, VALORANT is set to support third-party spatialization software for headphones.

Spatial Audio, essentially virtual surround sound for headphones, processes sound to help users distinguish between sounds that are in front, behind, or even above them while using headphones. For instance, it helps in determining whether the footsteps heard were in front or behind. The exciting news is that Patch 8.0 will officially support third-party spatial audio solutions!

This offers users alternatives beyond the HRTF option that was already available in VALORANT’s audio settings. During Patch 7.06, changes were made to the audio engine that resulted in issues for those who were already using third-party spatialization software, which wasn’t supported at that time. When third-party spatialization software was active in Windows settings in 7.06, sound levels became erratic. The only solution at that time was to guide those affected to temporarily disable the third-party spatialization software. A stereo-only fix was implemented in 7.07 that was compatible with Spatial Audio, but it did not allow for the virtualization of surround sound.

With Patch 8.0, the Speaker Configuration in VALORANT’s audio settings will default to stereo, but users can take advantage of all the features that these spatial audio solutions offer if they opt to set the Speaker Configuration to Auto-Detect.

WEAPONS UPDATES

VALORANT announced the arrival of the Outlaw, the first new weapon since its launch. The Outlaw, a high-impact, double-barreled sniper rifle, is designed for decisive playmaking.

The features of the Outlaw include:

  • Semi-automatic firing mode
  • Stay zoomed functionality
  • Capacity of 2 slugs per magazine
  • Extended reload time when empty

Unique to the Outlaw is its varying reload timings, depending on whether it’s reloading from empty or just reloading a single shot. The Outlaw can be acquired for 2,400 credits.

AGENT UPDATES

Deadlock

Following the direction of the previous 7.10 GravNet (C) changes, the Valorant team is building upon the unique strengths of Deadlock’s two other basic abilities: Sonic Sensor (Q) and Barrier Mesh (E).

For Sonic Sensor (Q), they are increasing the reliability of the concuss once triggered by shortening its windup time, while also increasing flexibility by allowing it to be recalled and redeployed in round.

Sonic Sensor (Q)

  • Sonic Sensors can now be recalled in round.
  • The pickup distance of Sonic Sensor has been increased from 12m to 27m.
  • The time to concuss once triggered has been decreased from 1.0s to 0.5s.
  • The time for enemies to destroy Sonic Sensor once triggered has been reduced from 0.65s to 0.5s.
  • Deadlock and her allies can now hear Sonic Sensor’s audio lightly when they are in its area of effect.

Barrier Mesh (E), they have increased the max length of the barrier walls to allow it to divide much larger spaces than is possible with comparable utility and make it more reliable at fully blocking chokes when deployed quickly. The max length of Barrier Mesh walls has been increased from 6m to 10m.

Killjoy

Killjoy’s Turret (E) provides superior coverage compared to other defensive recon tools, thanks to its autonomous detection and extensive vision range. By narrowing its vision cone, Killjoy will be encouraged to make more strategic decisions about which part of the map her Turret will oversee. The updated visuals of the Turret are designed to help you swiftly comprehend the areas it safeguards.

Turret (E)

  • The vision radius of the Turret has been reduced from 180 degrees to 100 degrees.
  • A representation of the Turret’s vision cone has been added to Killjoy’s minimap when she is placing the Turret.
  • VFX and updated animations have been added to communicate the Turret’s new vision radius

MAP UPDATES

Doors Refactor

The technology behind the interactable doors has been enhanced to refine interactions with others and with Agent abilities.

ICEBOX

Icebox has returned with several modifications to Mid, B Green, and B Orange. The aim of these changes is to increase the significance of Mid for any team controlling it and to streamline the path to B Site through B Orange and B Green, making fights more predictable.

Attacker Side Spawn

A storage container has been positioned on the left side to obstruct the line of sight from Attacker Spawn to B Tube.

B Green

The container in B Green was adding complexity to both ground fights and those involving players boosting up top. By relocating the container, combat in this area should be more manageable.

B Tube Exterior

A window has been added toward the end of B Tube that overlooks Mid and provides a view towards A Site and Defender Spawn. This addition allows Attackers to exert significant pressure on rotating players, and Defenders should be able to maintain more space when holding Mid from B Kitchen or Mid Boiler.

B Tube Interior

Two boxes have been stacked flush against the wall.

B Snow Pile

Multiple parallel paths were leading from Mid to B Site. To decrease timings and create more predictable fights, the B Orange route closest to B Kitchen has been removed. The snow pile leading up to B Kitchen has been adjusted so players can now silently drop off the boxes.

LOTUS

Defenders on Lotus have been feeling overwhelmed by Attackers. To address this, more options are being added by adjusting neutral spaces and making some quality of life updates across the map, enabling Defenders to better hold sites.

A Main

Additional space has been created in A Main, along with a set of boxes, providing Defenders with more options to control A Rubble. The double stack of boxes outside A Stairs has been made non-penetrable to decrease the chances of being spammed.

A Link

Extra space has been added near the breakable door. This should make it less awkward to fight from inside the connector room after the door has been broken.

A Hut

A Hut has been closed to improve the readability of the plant site and make retakes easier. A cubby has also been added to the back of A Hut, providing more options for Defenders to hold the site.

B Site

B Site has been expanded and boxes have been added to increase defensibility closer to the site choke point.

C Site

Adjustments have been made to the Spike plant zone and the stairs in C Bend to allow for a greater variety of Spike plant locations in C Site. The boxes on the back of the site have also been adjusted.

C Bend

Additional space and boxes have been added in C Main to increase defensibility closer to the front of Main. Boxes and extra room to fight from have also been added to C Bend.

Rotating Doors

The time for rotating doors to complete their spin has been increased from 8 seconds to 10 seconds. This extra time should allow for more fights to happen through the doors and for most players to get through the door on time.

B Orb

B Orb has been removed to align Lotus more closely with other maps (with the exception of Fracture, which has 4). This change also addresses the issue of Attackers being able to farm B Orb easily.

MODES UPDATES

Team Deathmatch

Stage 2 – Sheriff Loadout

  • The Heavy Shield has been replaced with a Light Shield.

The Valorant team has observed that the Sheriff is outperforming other weapons in the Stage 2 weapon ecosystem, leading to a sidelining of other loadouts. The aim of this change is to enhance the viability of other weapons when facing off against a Sheriff.

Map Rotation

All game modes (with the exception of Team Deathmatch and Custom games) will follow the Competitive map rotation. The current rotation includes: Icebox, Lotus, Sunset, Breeze, Ascent, Bind, and Split.

UPDATES TO PREMIER

In Premier updates, a Team Captain role is introduced, offering assistance in team management. Standings visibility and division determination are now available. EMEA Zone updates facilitate the VCT Challengers League Path to Promotion.

The Team Captain Role

A secondary management role, known as Team Captain, has been introduced to rosters. Team Captains can assist with team management tasks such as inviting and removing team members. However, they do not have the authority to delete the team or remove the Team Owner. Team Owners have the power to promote or demote a Team Captain.

Standings

The ability to view standings in other divisions and for previous Stages of Premier is now available via the drop-down menus on the top left of the Standings Tab.

Divisions

Players can now determine their seeded division prior to playing their first match.

Qualification for Playoffs

The qualification threshold for this Stage has returned to the standard 675 Premier Score.

Updates to EMEA Zone

The Zones have been updated to facilitate the VCT Challengers League Path to Promotion in EMEA. For more information on how to qualify for Challengers Open Qualifiers and how Premier is integrated into esports in 2024, refer to the provided article by VALORANTESPORTS.COM.

BUG FIXES

A bug in the Raw Input Buffer has been resolved. This bug was not respecting the swapped primary/secondary mouse keys in Windows mouse settings.

KNOWN ISSUES

There is a known issue in Team Deathmatch where the Outlaw, when picked up from a weapon spawner, does not have reserve ammunition. A fix for this issue is currently in progress.

CS2: Warmup routine to improve your game

Counter-Strike is one of the most popular and successful competitive games in the world. If you want to improve your skills in CS2, you should add a good warmup routine before jumping into your matches. A routine will help you to not only train your aim, movement, reactions and game sense but will also bring you more consistency.

Training your aim

Aiming is arguably one, if not the most, important skill in CS2. So hitting your shots will drastically increase your chances to win duels. The term “aim” is often taken as a generic term for different aspects such as accuracy, flicks, spraying and tracking. To train your aim, you can use the following methods:

  • DEATHMATCH SERVERS. Deathmatch servers, or DM servers, are great for improving your overall aim and movement. By putting yourself into a fast free-for-all (FFA) DM server you will quickly get a good chunk worth of practice in a short time. Our own PRACC.COM Servers will give you the option of All Weapons, Pistols only or Multi-CFG where the server rotates through a different set of weapon configurations. You can also track your stats for each session ensuring you have a complete overview of your improvement.
  • CUSTOM GAME MODES. Besides our deathmatch servers we offer different game modes to help you improve.
    • PREFIRE Arena: Get ready for entry fragging with our Prefire Arena. Clear over 50 arenas across all competitive maps, and battle against others for the first place in our leaderboard.
    • BARRAGE Arena: Defend against bots assaulting you in various arenas on competitive maps, and battle against others for the first place in our leaderboard.
    • Aimbotz: Practice your AIM against randomly spawning bots on competitive maps.
    • Private AIM Duel: Duel with your friends on a private server with two teams.
    • Private Tactics Server: Practice grenades, test out things and craft your own strats.
  • WORKSHOP MAPS. Workshop maps are custom maps that you can download for free on the CS2 Workshop. CS2_aim is a good, feature-rich, map with an integrated 100 kills challenge and so much more.

Summary

Counter-Strike is a highly popular competitive game, and to enhance skills, a well-rounded warm-up routine is crucial. PRACC.COM Servers provide versatile options and Workshop maps, like CS2_aim, offer additional challenges. Incorporating these training methods ensures improved aim, movement, reactions, and game sense and will help to bring your performance in CS2 to the next level.

Create Buy Binds in CS2

Buy binds are custom key bindings that allow players to purchase specific weapons and equipment with a single keystroke. This reduces the time spent navigating the buy menu, making it easier and less stressful to buy.

Enable the console

To create them we need to enable the console first. In case you haven’t done so yet you can enable it by going to:

  • Settings
  • Open the “Game” tab
  • And set “Enable Developer Console” to yes.

Now you can open the console with ” ` “.

Create your binds

To create the binds themselves now we have to understand how the loadout in CS2 works. In previous Counter-Strike games you could bind the weapon directly to a key. With CS2’s new loadout system the process changed a tiny bit.

Your loadout is now split into “Secondary”, “Midtier” and “Rifle” and depending on where you put your favourite guns you will have to use the fitting slotname.

Now we need keys to bind the actions to. Most people use their numpad for the buy menu. Here is an overview of what the keys are called:

Now simply combine preferred loadout slot and key and you are good to go. Let’s look at some examples.

// Buys an AWP on the "8" key
bind "KP_8" "buy RIFLE4"
// Buys an USP on the "1" key
bind "KP_1" "buy SECONDARY0"

Now that we know how to create weapon buy-binds let’s have a look at the utility.

CS2 Update: 8th November 2023

Animation adjustments, Premier changes and more! Get ready for a roundup of CS2’s latest update.

Gameplay:

  • Noticed some tweaks in how your character moves and shoots? That’s the result of improved visual and audio feedback, making things smoother.
  • Random numbers for shooting spread are now synced up between players and servers by default. This means tracers and decals match up better with server directions. This sync thing has been happening on Valve’s official servers since 10/14.
  • Fixed a bug where pressing a movement key immediately after jumping resulted in an inconsistent jump height

Matchmaking:

  • Now, groups of four can dive into Premier mode.
  • Solo players teamed up with a group of four get a handy vote-kick immunity.
  • CS Rating after a Premier mode break? Adjusted for a fair comeback.

Audio:

  • Grenade bounce sounds won’t blast your ears from miles away—they’ve dialed down the volume.
  • Quality boost in occlusion filter for a crisper audio experience.
  • No more confusing headshot sounds for attackers. Also, softer volume for headshot damage without armor.
  • Jump land sounds now travel the same distance as footsteps.
  • If you’ve missed the spark sound during a bomb defuse cut short by a spinning player, it’s back!
  • Up close, death groans won’t make you think the attacker’s right next to you.
  • Unsilenced M4A1-S now has the distant gunfire sounds it was missing.

Mirage Changes:

  • No more clipping on the palace bench
  • Box on A site is now the right height

Visual Effects:

  • Blood effects look better up close.
  • Bomb light visibility has improved from the back.
  • Less flashy quick switching from scoped rifles.
  • Kill streak HUD effect chills out after five kills.

CSTV:

  • Check this out: a new setting called “tv_record_immediate” lets you control when CSTV demo files start recording. Fancy!
  • You can now record CSTV demos without delayed spectating. Just set “tv_record_immediate 1” and hit “tv_record” when you’re ready.

Other Stuff:

  • Sticker wear values got a makeover to fit the CS:GO vibe better.
  • Bug fix alert: workshop tools won’t mess up shadows anymore.
  • “Performance” HDR rendering mode looks even better now.
  • Workshop maps are a go for Wingman mode. Get ready for some community-created fun!

Practice CS2 with PRACC.COM Servers

With the PRACC.COM server plans it is easier than ever to practice. Coming with PRACC Scrim & Tactics features in every plan so you can access many useful features to manage scrims, come up with new strategies, etc.

Today we will dive deeper into the tactics mode. The tactics mode is the perfect way to find new lineups, boosts, and more. You can simply enable it by writing !tactics.

With !traj you can enable a handy preview for grenade lineups. It also supports jumpthrows and W-Jumpthrows. In case you don’t want to wait until a smoke grenade fully faded, you can clear them whenever you wish with !clear. To rethrow your last grenade you can use !throw.

Once you find a lineup you like, it is possible to save it with !save. With !nades you can bring up all the grenades that were saved by your team. Last but not least, use !nades with the ID of the nade you want to revisit and you will be teleported to the lineup.

Bots can be placed by using !bot (will place a bot at your current position) or !botplace (will place a boot at crosshair position). !removebot or !removebots will respectively remove either the bot you are looking at or all bots. Bots will respawn and display taken damage in the chat perfect for practicing prefires or HE-grenades.

Bots can also be used for boosts. There are two commands available !boost and !crouchboost.

Booking a plan & other commands

You can get a server right on your team’s server page. Currently, there are three different server plans available. On the very same page you can also see all available commands and recorded demos.

VALORANT Patch 7.06

The VALORANT patch 7.06 introduces improvements, including faster loading times, updated voice lines for Sage, and restrictions in Competitive mode to prevent rank boosting. Backend changes have been made to Combat Reports, and various bugs, such as unintentional player reveals and UI issues, have been fixed.

General Updates

This patch introduces changes to how accessories like gun buddies and weapon skins load into the game, with the goal of reducing loading times. These optimizations are slated to be implemented midway through the patch.

Competitive Mode Updates

RIOT Games observed a surge in competitive rank boosting, involving both bots and real players. To address this issue and ensure fairness in the game, new restrictions have been introduced. Players ranked Ascendant and higher can now only invite others with Platinum rank and above to join their competitive parties. The team is actively monitoring and taking action against accounts involved in suspicious activities.

For further insights into the approach to gameplay systems, players can refer to the recent VALORANT Systems Health Series.

Agent Changes

Sage, one of the agents, has undergone updates to her voice lines, and new interaction lines have been added for her interactions with other agents.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a rare bug that could inadvertently reveal a player’s location in unintended areas after purchasing a weapon.
  • Resolved an issue where the Spike plant and defuse UI bar were not appearing for minimal HUD observers
  • Fixed a bug that was causing vision cones to flicker at the start of rounds on the map Sunset

Jumpthrow

As of writing this blog (14.09.2023) the default CS2 jump bind seems to be broken and inconsistent. This is expected to change after the limited test is finished and the game is fully released. For the time being you can help yourself with the following binds & aliases. Simply replace the “YOURKEY” with your desired keyboard or mouse key and you are good to go!

// Jumpthrow
alias "+jumpup" "+jump"
alias "+double" "-attack;-attack2"
alias "+jumpdown" "-jump"
bind "YOURKEY" "+jumpup;+double;+jumpdown"
